While insertion, we are getting the lock request time out error in the
visual basic. how to rectify that error.

Books Online suggest adding appropriate error-handling to the application
(error number 1222) or increasing the @@lock_timeout setting, but common
sense suggests finding out which processes cause locks, when and why.

Using sp_lock and sp_who (or sp_who2 on SQL 2000 and above) will help you
find the culprit.
