Description:   To develop strong nephrology product advocacy through Key Opinion Leader (KOL) development by delivering quality medical education to internal and external colleagues.  Territory includes; Northern New Jersey (NJ), Connecticut (CT), New York (NY), Massachusetts (MA).

Identify, build, and leverage relationships with national, regional and local thought leaders (60%)
- Identify and develop key thought leaders for medical education and clinical research opportunities.
- Develop strategic thought leader plans to provide needs-based, value-added services and to improve their advocacy.

Provide input and participate in cross-functional initiatives (20%)
- Participate in internal therapeutic advisory groups and project teams.
- Publication planning; slide-deck development, training initiatives.
- Provide field-based medical support to Shires clinical research programs.

Deliver quality medical education presentations in a variety of settings and to obtain valuable feedback that can disseminated throughout the organization (5%)

Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence from multiple sources (10%)

Complete accurate and timely administrative reports, projects, and required documentation requests (5%)

Other:
- Appropriate identification, assessment and development of Key Opinion Leaders.
- Appropriate assessment and allocation of available resources.
- Understands and abides by PhRMA and OIG guidelines.
- Conflict resolution in an independent fashionAbility to navigate sensitive situations internally and externally.

Requirements:
- Completion of a graduate level degree (Pharm.D., M.D., D.O., or Ph.D.) is required, with relevant residency and/or fellowship experience desired.
- Has an established track record of effective and influential oral presentations within the healthcare profession.
- Demonstrative relevant therapeutic research or substantive patient care experience is desired.
- Demonstration of proficiency in key skills and competencies.
- Demonstrates broad therapeutic competency - stays abreast of trends and new information in the profession.
- Highly articulate and persuasive during formal and informal presentations; able to convey complex, scientific ideas fluently to any audience.
- Has the ability to tactfully provide scientifically sound, constructive feedback to national, regional and local thought leaders and speakers.
- Actively listens to others and is adept at confidently stating expert opinion while respecting the positions of others - can exert diplomacy while standing firm on a position.
- Builds and leverages strategic internal and external relationships to identify potential opportunities.
- Utilizes effective, professional communications to cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues.
- Is able to work effectively on multi-disciplinary teams in order to achieve desired outcomes.
- Skillfully plans, prioritizes, and executes multiple responsibilities.
- Maintains a positive attitude during challenging situations.

Ability to travel 40-60% depending on territory
Must have clean and valid drivers license
Minimum Experience:  1 year
